Mornings can be hectic when you’re rushing to get kids out the door to school or get yourself ready for work, which is why I am a fan of a quick breakfast. Truthfully, I find myself falling off the wagon if I don’t have an idea or plan of what I am having for breakfast for the week. It’s too easy to grab a high-calorie breakfast sandwich with my morning coffee if I am running short on time. Breakfast can set my mood for the day, if it starts of right, I am more likely to follow through for the rest of my day. This is why I bring you: 4 quick breakfasts under 400 calories.
I’ve been a little off my game this month. My son is going through the 4 month sleep regression. Truthfully, I was ignorant enough to believe that this was not actually a thing. He turned 4 months, and I expected as the clock struck midnight, suddenly he wouldn’t sleep anymore. That didn’t happen, so I figured we had slipped right on past the 4 month regression. Well let me tell you, two weeks later it came roaring in like a lion, and I haven’t slept for more than a few hours in a row since Halloween.
The 4 month sleep regression has led to some seriously exhausted mornings. This is why I like to start my day with a plan for what I am having for breakfast for the week. I typically rotate between one or two of the listed breakfasts during the week and stick to them. It saves on groceries to eat the same breakfast and it’s easy to stay in track for my goals when I know exactly what I’m eating. Without further adieu, here are the 4 quick breakfasts under 400 calories that are saving me in this 4 month sleep regression:
1. Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie
This Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie satisfies my peanut butter craving like no other, without the bread. I’ve been drinking this almost non-stop for the past two weeks, whether it be for lunch or dinner, I absolutely love it. I highly recommend an All-Natural Peanut Butter for this recipe. I use Kraft All Natural Peanut Butter. As far as All Natural Peanut Butter’s go, you really can’t beat their price!
2. Make-Ahead Breakfast Sandwiches
These make-ahead breakfast sandwiches are my husband’s absolute favorite breakfast. After my daughter, he simultaneously lost weight with me and if you asked him, he would say these breakfast sandwiches are why. Previously, he was one to skip breakfast. With these make-ahead breakfast sandwiches he always has a quick, satisfying breakfast to start his day – and metabolism – off right.
3. Super Food Green Smoothie
4you someone who sees a green smoothie and thinks, “Bleh, that probably tastes like grass.”? Me too. Not this green smoothie though! The primary flavor found in this super food green smoothie is pineapple. It’s absolutely delicious and every time I drink it, not only is my sweet tooth satisfied but I know I am fueling my body properly. For all my smoothies I use a Nutribullet Pro. It has become my go to breakfast tool, helping me whip up delicious smoothies daily.
4. Egg White Almond Butter & Banana Oatmeal
When I say that this oatmeal combination was my very first introduction to healthy eating after my daughter, I truly mean it. I attribute so much of my weight loss during my first postpartum journey to a healthy, filling breakfast. This is the breakfast I ate every single day after I had her. It is delicious, filling and satisfies like no other oatmeal I have had. If the egg whites seem too unusual to you, start off without them – that’s what I did! This will probably always be one of my absolute favorite breakfasts.
