When I was pregnant with my son I gave up caffeine. That was tough, but once I was through the tunnel I thought, I will never have caffeine again. How ignorant I was at 36 weeks pregnant thinking I would never need caffeine again. Queue newborn and sleepless nights. It only took a few weeks until I realized I needed coffee back in my life and I needed it now. This is when I also discovered my Chocolate Mocha Smoothie for Tired Moms.
If we are going to be completely honest, I’m actually not super fond of the coffee flavor on it’s own. This smoothie gives just a hint of the mocha flavor I love while also giving me an added boost to survive the sleepless nights. Also chocolate…
I really like smoothies for breakfast or lunches when I’m short on time. (I also just like smoothies in general) I’m not much of a meat eater, so I use protein powder typically to up my protein intake on a day to day basis. In this smoothie I use Vega One Sport chocolate protein powder. I prefer a vegan protein powder because whey protein powders upset my stomach.
For all of my smoothies, I use a Nutribullet Pro blender. I highly recommend it and use it almost every day. I have found that a regular blender just doesn’t replicate the consistency the Nutribullet Pro does. I’ve had the regular Nutribullet as well and found although it does the job, it really doesn’t have the power the Nutribullet Pro does for things like making almond butter. It’s definitely a must-have in my kitchen!

In this recipe I have included flaxseeds. These are entirely optional, however I highly recommend you add them! They do not impact the flavor of the smoothie and they have a host of health benefits for you. You can read more about flaxseed health benefits here.

I have tried the nutribullet blender myself and I like it. I tried Benevita shakes and they were quite filling and healthy. I am addicted to caffeine too, I like how informative this post is too. Thanks
